I’ve watch in awe as it decompiled my headunit’s software over adb to figure out if we could control my truck’s HVAC (we could, and do), prototyped a form builder in a few hours at work, and built silly games in hours for my nephew’s addiction to Godzilla. I’ve sat and pondered in existential dread “Is my job redundant? Am I redundant?” Then, just as I can’t see how I matter anymore, Claude comes to me and tells me “We’re going to hit the object cap. We show 5 items, but in order to count the 1,000 hidden items in our list, we have to build them.” And I sit, blinking, before asking “Can we not just keep an in memory list of the hidden items? Do they have to be objects?”, to which Claude replies, “That’s a much cleaner design than what I was going to build …”. And I wonder, how. How can it be so incredibly smart, yet so, so incredibly dumb. Guess I’m safe till 5.6. submitted by /u/igobyraymond
