After reading the notes from Jagex today about Day 1 of Fractured Archives, I was actually shocked that Void was mentioned, let alone to see “while it’s great to see Void equipment seeing the light of day, this free-to-obtain, untradeable armour set is punching well above its weight in a way that we don’t think is healthy.” There are a few things about this statement that I would like to unpack here: “Free-to-obtain,” yes, but it still takes time in a minigame that you have to be active in. Even more so, you have to be way more active than you used to be. Time is a resource. “untradeable,” okay, and? That just means that people have to spend the time and other resources to get the armor, and not just coin. Iron folks who play the game can’t buy things in general. “Punching well above its weight,” is it? I didn’t see a ton of void during my full day of raiding. Base void isn’t the best against things that hit so hard, but Elite Void has quite a lot of requirements to get, with two being 100 Combat Level and defeating Zulrah, which both time and resources, and Zulrah isn’t the easiest thing to kill. I would say Elite void should be doing something if those are the base requirements. The full statement seems like you walk in, put your hand out, and get an armor set that is helping you fly through the raid. That isn’t how it works. The full set requires time, combat, and skilling requirements, because it isn’t tradeable. In theory, you can buy a ton of BIS gear, and Void is nowhere near BIS. Out of all of the clears we hardly saw any void, and if we did it was Elite Void. I did see a ton of Masori, Justiciar, Blood Moon, Eclipse, etc. You can wear Moon gear before Elite Void, so I don’t understand where the justification is here. I’m interested to hear all of your thoughts, and I’ll try to get back to questions/comments when I can. submitted by /u/withhiscupnspoon
