Yo guys I got a dilemma swirling in my head for the last couple of months… I’m a 26M, married to a beautiful woman, big friend group, decent (paid) job, actually using my gym membership and lots of other hobbies. We live in a time span where everything people do is getting filmed and so many people make content out of their lifes. I’m feeling overwhelmed by a lot of those so called influencers. So many people make it look hella easy to just film what they do, upload it to social media and get lots and lots of views which leads not rarely to sponsorings and money. There are many, many streamers and Youtubers out there which I most of the time rather watch than current Netflix Trends or movies. Mostly gaming tho… I’m a gamer myself. I love to play and hunt vor Platinum trophies. A few years ago I taught myself to edit videos and I’d say I got fairly decent at it. A part of me thinks that I should use my time more productive. So many successful people on the internet, either musicians, influencers, actors and business men are preaching constantly that hustling is the way to make real money and build success. Which I agree for the most part. Livin’ my whole life in the so called hamster wheel ain’t the plan for the rest of my life. Beeing lazy on the couch with my wife ain’t make me rich… BUT the other part of me does enjoy the quality time with the people I love. I love comin’ home from work and relax while gaming, caring for my reptiles (yes I got a reptile collection), play cards with my best mate or grab a cold one with the boys. There are a few parts of my life which are probably pretty interesting for social media content. The Reptile Room, (amateur) Photography, sometimes Urbexing and of course gaming. I’m decent at video editing, I’m pretty good at writing (at least in German) and grinding my favourite games to Platinum while binging some youtube videos is one of my favourite things post work. But doin’ all of that just keeps a voice inside of me yellin’ all the time: MAKE MORE OUT OF THE TIME YOU GOT!! Why do I constantly feel the urge to do/create content out of my life? And the more important question: why do I just don’t want to do it if I got time for it? Why do I keep watchin’ TV with my wife rather than trying to build (financial) success? I like video editing. I love writing (scripts) and even tho I highly doubt it some lads told me during DnD a couple of times that I should lead the game ‘cause of my soothing voice. I like every part of that grind in theory. But I also like being lazy. All those people who made it… German rapper, Streamer, YouTuber, Metal Musicians… they got somethin’ I don’t apperantly. Some part of their personality is programmed different than mine. Without sounding to obnoxious but I feel like I got a decent chance at being successful in whatever I gotta do. But I can’t turn off the laziness inside of me and now I can’t turn off the pressure build up by many, many online personalities either. Sorry for the probably confusing and long essay. I’m layin’ in bed right now, my head is tired, I’m trying to sleep but my mind is constantly circling around the same thoughts of guilt: ‘another wasted day in your young age’ And I do know for sure that tomorrow will be the same and so on… submitted by /u/RaffiRaptor
