I married my college boyfriend after being together for 8 years and living together for 6 of those years. Once we got married it was like a switch flipped and he showed me an entirely different side of him that I’d never seen before (yelling at me, throwing things, slamming doors, leaving for days at a time with no contact or notice, trying to force himself on me after I’d said no, etc.). I left him a few months in and have taken a few years to be single so that I’m not treating any man, whether it’s serious or casual, as a rebound or wasting their time when I’m not actually ready. Now that I think I’m ready to give dating or even maybe something more casual a go, I honestly don’t know where to begin. I’ve never had a one night stand (not that I’m actively seeking one now but who knows), and I’ve only slept with 2 people ever. The last time I was on a first date I was 18. All of my friends who have given me advice are female, so I’m curious to get a male perspective. What advice would you give or what would you look for in a female partner? What is normal for you when or comes to intimacy, frequency of dates and contact, etc? Dating feels daunting and it would be nice to get some perspective and advice from the male side of things since I’m only getting it from women right now. What kinds of things are a turn off? What kinds of things do you find attractive? Do you normally initiate a date when you’ve been talking to a woman? Whatever your thoughts are, I’m curious to hear your perspective. submitted by /u/Sensitive-Poet9338
