I’ve been thinking about how much our life circumstances influence whom we choose as a long-term partner, and I’d be interested in hearing men’s perspectives. For those of you who are single and looking for a serious relationship, how do you think about dating someone who already has a child? I’m curious about the things that might not be immediately obvious:
- How much do practical considerations, such as time, spontaneity, and parenting schedules, influence your decision?
- What are your thoughts about eventually becoming part of a child’s life, even if you’re not their parent?
- How do you think about the relationship between a new partner, their child, and the child’s other parent?
- Are there aspects of this situation that you think people tend to underestimate, either positively or negatively?
- For those who have experienced it firsthand, was it different from what you expected? I’m interested in hearing different perspectives, including the challenges people anticipate and the positive aspects they might see. I’m especially curious about how men’s views change with age, life experience, and whether they have children of their own. submitted by /u/Diligent_Evening9373
