I don’t think I’ve touched my code editor in over a half of a year. It’s basically just Claude Code in Terminal and my Git client open to monitor the agents and their commits / merges. Cursor also switched to opening a chat-esque environment recently — looks like they’re abandoning their VSCode fork. Programming language releases are becoming irrelevant — who cares about new syntactical sugar when the LLM is doing all the writing. So that begs the question — what purpose do these IDE / code editors serve in the future? The beloved Jetbrains basically has a dead business model now. submitted by /u/Dramatic-Yam8320
