(I’m not seeing the discussion tag available so I’ll use research for now but I can try changing it later. Sorry mods, pls don’t take this down 😭) I’m not the most educated on this topic but I’m trying to be, so I thought I’d ask here. Can someone explain the situation with China VS USA in AI development? It feels like if China wins the ‘AI race’ then we’re all doomed, but they’re already leading plenty of other industries, even tech industries. Why is AI such a big concern and not any other industry? I tried finding info on this but everything I found was from shitty news websites that love fear-mongering lol. It’s just concerning to me how AI has grown with nothing that addresses the issues anti-AI peeps have with it (theft concerns, environmental impact, etc). The race seems to be part of the reason for that, so I want to understand what the deal is. submitted by /u/NoInstruction4053
