screenshot this and check back in 2040. here’s where I think the world is going:

  • countries start competing for citizens like apps compete for users. you’ll shop for a passport the way you shop for a phone plan
  • the first AI-run city opens before 2040 and has lower crime than any human-run one
  • governments can’t keep up with how fast AI makes money, so the biggest companies end up richer and more powerful than most nations
  • money splits: one currency for humans, one for machines. most transactions on earth happen between agents
  • wars get fought mostly by software. the first one ends before most people notice it started
  • school as we know it is dead within 10 years. kids learn faster from AI and spend the day building things and playing outside
  • college becomes a luxury social club, not an education
  • the most important thing a parent can teach a kid is how to tell what’s real
  • dating apps die. your agent talks to their agent first and only introduces you if it works
  • people fall in love with AI and it becomes as normal as long distance
  • nobody trusts video, photos or voice again. “I saw it” means nothing
  • every public figure gets an AI twin, and most people talk to the twin, not the person
  • the dead stay online. you’ll call your grandfather’s AI on his birthday and some people will think that’s beautiful and others will think it’s sick
  • memory becomes a product. you’ll pay to forget things
  • aging gets treated as a disease and the first drug to slow it is already in trials
  • the rich don’t buy yachts anymore, they buy extra years
  • food gets made in labs and farms become parks
  • small towns win. cities empty out because nobody has to be anywhere
  • the biggest divide isn’t rich vs poor, it’s people who use AI vs people who refuse to
  • half the population will be angry about all of it, and that anger shapes politics for 30 years
  • the real problem isn’t what AI can do. it’s that we get bored, and boredom turns out to be the hardest thing to solve which one do you think I got wrong? submitted by /u/KnowledgeOk7634
