The per seat model assumes a human at every seat doing work. When one agent can do the work of several seats, that math falls apart, and you can watch vendors scrambling in real time. Look at how one support tool went per resolution, or how a big CRM repriced its agent layer several times, per conversation then per action then credits, clearly groping for what sticks. My opinion is seat based pricing is a dead model walking for anything an agent can touch, and the shift to usage and outcome pricing is not a trend, it is forced. The messy part is nobody has figured out fair outcome pricing, so expect a few more awkward years. submitted by /u/EnvironmentalDay8864
