I’m getting kind of sick of seeing vibe-coded three.js games and apps, buggy reverse engineered software etc. AI is so accessible, so I understand this the low-hanging fruit that is posted to Reddit. At my place of work, we use AI to create websites faster, upgrade our legacy code etc, which is great in my opinion. However, it’s still just white collar nonsense that does not help humanity. What cases are genuinely an improvement for us and the planet? Are we building software that enables medical advances? Are we trying to solve the climate change? I’ve heard AI was being used to detect tumors in scans quicker. One decade-old math problem was solved (not sure how that helps us). Anything else … ? I’m not seeing any big breakthroughs in the news. submitted by /u/Raspieman
