There have been a few posts recently about what Amazon learns about users and presents in its “about you”us area. Here’s a different angle. Most of this is trivial. I order gluten-free items from my wife since they have a larger selection than local stores. The one that surprises me is that it thinks it knows my cats name: “Twilight”. Now, my daughter has a cat named Twyla and it stayed with us for about six weeks when she was hospitalized in her last couple of weeks of pregnancy and a few weeks after delivery. I can’t imagine the cat’s name coming up in any shopping interaction with Amazon and if it did it wouldn’t be Twilight. We do have several Amazon Echoes but can’t imagine using Twyla in any interaction. The only explanation I can have is it picked it up from conversation we didn’t think we gave it permission to listen to, e.g. when we we talking to the cat. submitted by /u/paz123
