Pre LLMs I thought declarative APIs were easier for me to write code, I’m quite confident in that. So what do I mean by declarative? Without going too deep, declarative means mostly these things (on some spectrum). You ask what you want not how to do it You compose things You can’t express something that is wrong (error caught at the earliest time) No surprises (or rather, only pleasant surprises, no easy way to delete the database but really easy to create combinations that work as expected) Inspectable, it can describe itself So, when I have such an API, I anecdotally observe better results and quicker from LLMs too. So, going back to my post last week, I find some of the code generated by an LLM using these APIs can get quite complex and the results are correct AFAICT. Anyhow, the question is, anyone else pushed the declarative angle on LLM code gen hard? submitted by /u/GianniMariani
