Hey Guys im 18 and I live in South Africa. I’ve recently noticed a lot of people my age at school really dislike AI but I don’t truly understand why. I mainly use Claude to study for my exams and tests, and its very effective/helpful in laying out a topic and how to approach certain questions. I just don’t get all the hate on the AIs and the constant rant because at the same time those people ranting also use AI so much. Now Im not a “yeah AI should be an integral part of our daily lifes, its so good” type of person because I understand the affect its having on unemployment in various industries, especially in a country with a high unemployment rate. I also understand the negative environmental affect its having on our world as well as the chipflation (RAM and other components). But why constantly hate on it, especially when you use it so much yourself? It feels a bit hypocritical to me. It’s honestly a useful tool even beyond studying so is there no way we can limit or regulate it so that it has less of a negative effect on employment, the environment and component prices but can still be used by society? I find it pretty useful at times. Curious what everyone else thinks submitted by /u/ChaoticTotoWolff
