Binance published a security incident update putting the impact at around $6.3B, with about $3B frozen on-chain so far. Their initial investigation points at a compromised DevOps laptop that let an attacker submit unauthorized withdrawals. They say they found no evidence of a wallet private key leak. It is the largest crypto exchange hack on record, roughly 4x Bybit in February 2025. Elon Musk replied the same day: “Super intelligence agents will at some point do this to gain currency for themselves, not a human.” That is a future claim. I have not seen credible evidence that AI ran this specific hack, and I am not claiming that. What I have checked today is the other side of that future: AI training platforms hiring real security people to break and evaluate models now. From the open hourly listings I pulled this afternoon for offensive security, pentest, red team, vuln research, security eval, cryptanalysis, and security architect roles: 29 hourly roles matched 14 of them have a top rate of $100/hr or more 3 clear $150/hr or more median top rate across the set: $90/hr highest: $250/hr (offensive security and vulnerability research, worldwide) also in the top end: Security Architect at EUR 159/hr (EU/UK), GenAI security eval up to $150/hr, cryptanalysis/reverse engineering at $135/hr, penetration tester up to $125/hr These are contract AI training / evaluation gigs, not full-time SOC seats. The work is usually reviewing attacks, writing eval tasks, jailbreaks, or judging model answers in a security domain you already know. Curious how many people here have actually done AI red team or security eval work, and whether the rates match what you are seeing. submitted by /u/PretendUmpire5513
