As someone who has been on Claude Code since mid-2025, my experiences with medium and low effort left a lot to be desired. Actually one of the most frustrating recent sessions I had was Opus 5 when I thought it was on xhigh and it was actually on medium. It made a ton of mistakes and didn’t think through edge cases, constantly needing another pass to fix its mistakes. On Opus 5.5, I’ve been using an xhigh orchestrator and xhigh implementers. I recently went to high effort implementers and the results are extremely good and very fast. Claude itself is telling me that medium often outperforms high on programming tasks but I’m suspicious of this so I’d like to hear people’s experiences and what everyone’s setup is nowadays. submitted by /u/domo__knows
