Once, my dad told me(after his retirement), “I still need recognition and validation from my daughters and my wife,” even though my parents have been divorced for several years! After that conversation with my dad, I asked some male friends what they thought and what I could say to him. Almost all of them told me, “Just tell him, ‘You’re the best. You’re the best dad in the world.’ That would mean more to him than saying, ‘I love you, Dad.’” This might be a well-known topic when it comes to validation, but I’m still wondering: What would make you happy to hear someone say something like that? Or is there something else you’d rather hear? Have you heard “you are the best” before? submitted by /u/Feeling_Advice420
