Bread: it’s just frozen stuff no better than Migros or Coop. They don’t make cakes or pastries in house. Fruits and vegetables: insanely high prices and the quality isn’t even special?? Freshness often worse than big supermarkets due to low turnover. Fish: smells terrible (means not fresh. Normal fish does not smell) and the selection is bad. Any standard supermarket in France destroys them. Regular shelf stable items: insanely high prices for stuff that isn’t very special. Like 9 francs for wheat crackers with a bit of olive oil. I think the problem is they don’t have the volume/turnover of a big supermarket chain, so they are forced to compensate with much higher margins. The result is you have mediocre products with insanely high prices. Honestly I’m surprised they still continue existing. Probably they’re running at a loss and just compensate with the margins from luxury cosmetics and apparel. submitted by /u/hawaiims
