My two best friends are getting married in a couple of years, and they’ve asked me to be their best man. I know I’ll probably be expected to do the obvious stuff (plan the bachelor party, give a speech, and hold the rings), but I’d like to be as helpful and dependable as I can be throughout the whole process. What are the customary best-man responsibilities, and what are some thoughtful ways I could support them from now at their planning stage, throughout the wedding itself and afterwards to ensure there’s no outstanding sources of stress or concern after their big day? How can I offer help without taking over or adding pressure, and what should I ask them about so I’m supporting the kind of wedding they actually want? I’d also appreciate advice on staying organised and avoiding common mistakes. I want my friends to be glad they chose me and confident in that choice, from the perspective of them seeing me as dependable and making the wedding and entire experience easier and memorable for them, rather than seeking recognition. submitted by /u/FailNo6210
