Assuming we had the technology to keep us in shape and fit. This question is relevant to AI, as best case scenario if it has extensive impacts on life extension I am curious what people would do I think I would fall in love with the world over and over again. There are so many lives I can almost feel waiting inside this one, so many different projects and places I would give myself to if there were time. Perhaps 20 years in finance in New York, swept up in its beautiful impatience, then another 20 as an art dealer in London, learning how a painting can hold someone in a room long after they have gone. Ten years travelling through Africa, following friendships across borders, staying wherever I could be useful. Then five in Japan, until the streets became familiar and a language I once couldn’t understand became the language in which someone told me they loved me. And all the different loves. Someone whose face would belong forever to a particular summer. Someone I would share a garden with for 40 years. The astonishing thought that, two centuries into my life, I might still look up from a book and see a stranger who would change everything. I would keep going back to school. Sit beside a window at 170, struggling with a subject I had only just discovered. Learn to restore old paintings, to grow things, to play the piano well enough to leave the windows open. Give whole decades to the small, quiet desires that so often have to wait until there is no time left for them. And I would return. To London, to a familiar bend in a river, to a tree I had planted when I was someone else. I would want to know what it feels like to sit beneath its branches a hundred years later, with another person’s hand in mine, and still have so much to tell them. submitted by /u/Genzinvestor16180339
