I’ve been building websites with Claude Code for a few months now. My own portfolio, a Marvel fan site where you play Doctor Doom (3D planet you can spin, a soundtrack generated in code, fan votes, the lot), and a couple of sites for small businesses. Every time I share one, a dev turns up in the comments. “AI slop.” “Looks like every other Claude site.” “You didn’t build this, you prompted it.” Some of it stings because some of it is fair. A lot of AI sites do look the same. Dark hero, glowing headline, purple gradient, bento grid. I’ve caught myself shipping exactly that. Some of it I don’t buy though. I still decided who each site was for, what goes on the first screen, what got cut and what the visitor should do next. I spent evenings fixing things Claude got wrong on mobile. The business owner wants more bookings, and that’s what I’m judged on. So how do the rest of you handle it? Do you tell clients it’s built with Claude Code or keep it to yourself? Have you found what actually stops a site looking “AI”, whether that’s real photography, a proper design system or something else? And when a dev has a go at you, do you argue, ignore it, or just let the work do the talking? Do you price differently because it’s quicker to build? Asking properly. I’d rather get better than get defensive. submitted by /u/WiseAcanthocephala51
