I just want to make a quick post about something codex did today for me and that might help someone else. Today I found an Old broken ssd stuck in protection mode on a drawer. It’s a 16 years old drive from an old vaio laptop/tablet hybrid, it has been left there for years as I never managed to fix it and forgot to throw it away. After finding It I remembered we have AI now, and plugged it into my pc and unleashed codex to research everything about it, and try to achieve read/write in the nands. The drive was stuck in protection mode, only reported 64kb when plugged and blocked smart commands. It was basically dead for about two years. It’s a Toshiba m-sata drive Well, macacos me mordam, codex fixed it. After one hour of giving it photos with the numbers on the nands and controller and letting it do it’s thing, connecting to a windows machine to run some tools over ssh, then plugin it back into my linux rig, the drive is now fully working, I formatted it using NTFS and wrote about 10gb of data flawlessly. I hope it continues to work, and I think this might help other people revive broken hardware. Well, this was just a test, and it unexpectedly ended up working, Now I have a 128gb portable ssd. This is the second surprise this week, yesterday codex managed to patch From Dust, an old ubisoft game that I really like, to run at high FPS (165), with correct physics simulations, plus remove the need for ubisoft launcher for me. I’m thinking about what else I can revive/fix with tools like this! what a time to be alive! submitted by /u/Shoesgorath
