Hi everyone! I’m curious about how jobs at large Swiss companies like Coop, Migros, MediaMarkt, etc. are perceived in Ticino, particularly when it comes to salaries, job security and working conditions. In German-speaking Switzerland, these companies are generally considered fairly ordinary employers, especially in terms of salaries (nothing more, nothing less). They’re not necessarily bad places to work, but they’re not exactly known for paying exceptionally well either. However, given the lower average salaries in Ticino and often miserable working conditions (thanks the proximity to Italy), I wonder whether the perception is different there. For example, would getting a permanent position at Migros, Coop or MediaMarkt be considered a particularly good opportunity in Ticino? Something comparable to the Italian concept of a “posto fisso”- a stable, desirable job that people are happy to hold on to? And how do the salaries at these companies compare to those offered by smaller local employers? Are they relatively attractive by Ticino standards, even if they’d be considered rather average north of the Alps? I’d be particularly interested in hearing from people who work or have worked for these companies in Ticino, or who know how they’re perceived locally. Thanks! submitted by /u/Electrical_Region741
