I’ve been a backend developer for about 9 years, so I’m used to knowing roughly how my systems work. With agents I ship in a day what used to take me a week. And honestly the code is often better than what I would have written. But I’m struggling with something: keeping up. I don’t need to understand every line. I do want a rough mental model of what changed and why. Right now I get that from the coderabbit summary on each PR and from asking the agent to explain itself, and that tells me what changed, but not really why it was done that way or what it means for the rest of the system. By Thursday my head is full. I’ve approved 30 things I sort of understand. The speed of building went way up. My ability to absorb what’s being built didn’t move at all. So I’m curious how others handle this, especially people who came from a normal engineering background. Do you still try to understand everything? Did you learn to let go? Is there some middle ground that doesn’t leave you fried by the end of the week? submitted by /u/Imaginary-Mix-7777
