I’m having trouble understanding the actual difference between regular Claude (chat) and Claude Code in the desktop app, especially now that Cowork has been merged into chat. From what I can tell, chat can now do a lot of agentic stuff on its own. It can work with local folders, run code, use connectors and skills, control the browser, and even do computer use. So the line between the two feels pretty blurry to me. Could someone who uses both break it down? What can Claude Code do that chat can’t, and vice versa? Where does each one actually run things: in the cloud, in a sandbox/VM, or natively on my machine? Is there a difference in how much of my usage limit the same task uses? How do control and visibility compare (plan mode, rewind, model/effort settings, context and usage breakdowns, CLAUDE.md , hooks)? In practice, when do you reach for one over the other? submitted by /u/jakub_curik
