Heya, dude approaching 40 here. Never had any success, it hurt a lot when I was younger. I even joined the wrong internet crowds, before ditching that stuff months later. Being angry all the time doesn’t make life better as it turns out. Nonetheless, I ditched the idea of dating or finding someone, instead tried to be okay with being alone. I did that with hobbies, work, meditation, anything to keep me busy. I volunteer, switched to a healthcare career that felt like made more sense, cook at a soup kitchen, ran a marathon, and so on. That’s stuff I was getting good at, where I was having some success. Eventually, seeing other people getting together became less painful and while the hole was still there, I noticed it’s just one part of life and it doesn’t have to be all-encompassing. Life isn’t perfect but I’m content. I have a place, food, money to the side. Not many friends, was never good at making these, but these I have matter. It went fine for a long while, but it’s getting harder. I’m getting restless or something, I’m still occupied but I can’t focus on what I do quite as well. I daydream about relationships again, and it sucks. And my libido, instead of going down as it should, flares up instead which just makes it even more bothersome. I wish nothing but to get back to that moment when my brain could stay focused on a task at hand and not get sidetracked. To the people who suffered similar difficulties, how did you find your peace of mind again? Thanks for the answers folks, stay classy. submitted by /u/Amdusiasparagus
