I’ve been thinking about how future generations will look back at the rise of AI, particularly the explosion of generative AI over the past few years. When people study this period 50 or 100 years from now, who will they consider the most important figures behind it? Personally, I think the eight researchers behind the 2017 paper Attention Is All You Need have a strong case. The Transformer architecture they introduced became the foundation for GPT, BERT, and much of modern generative AI. I could see that paper eventually being regarded as one of the most influential publications in computer science history. submitted by /u/FlatwormUnfair7326
