https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/full/10.1177/23780231261453968 ? 75% of people believe their job is save from replacement by AI. 70% of people believe most other peoples jobs are at risk of being replaced. Whenever I talk to people about this study they always give me a well-thought-out and erudite explanation why they believe THEIR job wont be replaced. I want you think one step beyond that. If you believe that your job wont be replaced but most other jobs will, then you also believe that most other peoples assessment is wrong. They made some kind of error in figuring out irreplacability. Tell me, what do you believe their mistake was? What is it that you figured out that they didn’t? Why is your assessment correct and everybody else’s isn’t? My guess: We believe what we want to be true rather than looking for what actually is true? They do and so do you. Everybody WANTS every other job to be automated but theirs to stay alive, so we believe that is what IS going to happen. submitted by /u/ForgotMyParachute
