I remember that around 15 years ago, negative comments about women were much more common and widely accepted. I also remember how much they hurt my feelings and affected my self esteem. I was a teenager back then. I grew up in an East Asian country and I didn’t speak English at the time, so the situation on the English speaking internet might have been different. But I wonder if things looked similar in English-speaking communities before MeToo? I was happy to see women finally finding their voices and to see things starting to change. But these days I see an increase in negative comments about men and I am sad that how normalized they’ve become. I’m also disappointed to see some people justifying them. I don’t understand why it’s considered acceptable to make stereotypical generalizations about men or make fun of them, when doing the same to women would get you called sexist. So men of Reddit, how do you feel about the current situation? And how does it affect you? submitted by /u/Upset_Grapefruit1654
