I’ve been feeling like I’ve slowly lost my self-respect because of a girl I cared about. I gave someone too much importance, constantly sought their attention and validation, overlooked things that hurt me, and sometimes stayed silent even when I knew I deserved better. Somewhere along the way, I started putting someone else’s happiness and attention above my own. I don’t want to be that person anymore. I’m not blaming her for everything. I know I allowed myself to get into this position, and I want to take responsibility for that. For those who have gone through something similar, how did you manage to get your self-respect back, stop seeking validation, and learn to put yourself first again? I don’t want to become cold or stop caring about people. I just want to learn how to love someone without losing myself in the process. Would genuinely appreciate your experiences and advice. submitted by /u/Lucky-Badger6553
