Hello men, I am a wife. My husband has a job he enjoys, though depending on the contract, it can be absolutely brutal. At the moment hes being treated like dirt to the point where hes feeling suicidal, burnt out, and dead inside and out, and there nothing that can be done about it. Weve been together for 10 years, and I’ve supported him through a lot of similar ups and downs. But this time, its different. Its more intense, its going to last until March, and its affecting him more than it usually does. I give him space, i give him plenty of love and affection, i encourage him to engage in his hobbies as a release, and sleep as much as he can (its hard for him), i handle the dinners and the chores, we have no children. Im doing everything i can to help him when hes home, but hes barely home, and i cant change anything at work for him where it really matters. So i turn to you, men whos opinions i value greatly, whats the most helpful thing your gf/wife has done when work has you down this bad? Im trying not to ask him these questions directly, because it puts more on him and makes it about me and how i feel bad about it, and its not about me at all. I just want this to be over because i see the pain hes in, and hes trying to keep it together, but more of this will completely break him, as it has before. Pulling out, taking days off, standing up for himself or switching carees are not options. submitted by /u/Witchescoldasstata
