Anthropic launched Personal Finance in Claude on November 5. You connect bank and card accounts through Plaid, and Claude answers questions in plain language from your balances and transactions: “where did my money go this month”, “am I spending more than I make”, or “what’s an APR and what has mine cost me this year”. It can also build spending charts, a calendar of what’s due, or a dashboard on request. Per Anthropic, access is read-only - it can’t move, manage, or invest your money - there are no ads or sponsored recommendations, and Claude doesn’t offer credit cards, loans, or savings accounts of its own. You sign in to your bank through Plaid yourself, so Claude never sees your bank password, and conversations in the hub aren’t used to train their models. You can unlink an account anytime, after which Claude can no longer see that account’s data. One caveat from Anthropic itself: Claude can make mistakes, so ask which transactions are behind a number and check important figures with your bank. It’s rolling out in beta this week on the Pro, Max, and Ultra plans in the US. Would you connect your accounts to a chatbot for this, or is read-only still more access than you’d hand over?
