I use CC for work that mostly isn’t coding: maintaining a large Markdown knowledge base, drafting documents, reading PDFs and spreadsheets, some small Python tools. I have a feeling that I burn more usage than necessary. I rarely use ≤ Sonnet and tend to default to Fable or Opus, often on “very high” or “max” effort, even for tasks that are mechanical. → Has anyone done (or seen) a structured comparison of model versus effort level per task type? → which task types benefit from Fable or Opus, and where Sonnet does just as well. → does a smaller model on higher effort even beat a bigger model on lower effort. → how do you decide in practice (rules of thumb, fixed choice per subagent, switching mid-session). → whether anyone has numbers on token use or quota for the same task across different combinations Thanks a lot for your insights! submitted by /u/Ok_Loquat7607
