I’m tired of all the Rondache hate. Its good. Get over it. Rondache is currently 1/3 the cost of Avernic defender. For 30 less attack bonus. It is an offhand. Those mean that its not best in slot for DPS, and outclassed by megarares. But guess what? Most people can’t afford megarares. A large portion of the playerbase have to bargain hunt. I’m sure to you, Mr Tryhard triple Obligator drop man, 25m doesn’t sound like much. But for most people it is. For 25m you can run Slayer helmet, amulet of fury, fighter torso, blood moon tassets, dragon boots, fire cape, fang, barrows gloves, a blessing, and dragon defender. Slight liberties taken for slayer helm/barrows gloves since they’re untradeable, but idea stands. So for the cost of Avernic I can either get a rune scim and an avernic, or I could get a full slayer melee loadout that can easily carry me through the mid game, and the cool new shield that prevents some of the damage I’m taking because I, the average player, take damage. Chip damage, miss prayers, whatever. Most people take damage, especially the ones who are looking at the Rondache at its current price point. Sure, my average time to kill at Duke is 10% longer. But it lets them try and learn new bosses they couldn’t normally, and is BIS melee strength. It helps cover when they mess up, and is actual BIS at some bosses. Rondache isn’t for people who have Scythes and Obligators. Its a powerful item, available at a low price point, that lets more people experience the game more easily and readily than they have been able to previously. And not by trivializing fights or mechanics. Through a very simple passive that matches what they need. Sorry its not BIS and doesn’t sell for 3B. But its an item a lot of people can and should use. Stop crying about how bad it is just because you play more than most people submitted by /u/forgothow2read
