So I just arrived to Basel with my gf (it will be 1 week on monday) where I’ll be living for the foreseable future. I am coming from Belgium, from Flemish part and was living in Brussels the past 3 years. Brought all my belongings incl. my bike, which ofc is super important to me considering Belgian customs. Coming from Brussels, however, I figure I take security pretty seriously with my bike (always use a very good lock, never leave it outside etc). So back in Brussels, I’d always keep it inside (in building hall) and lock it; lights and acessories on it, I’d just leave them. Through 3y, never had anything stolen ever (in Flanders also not, but would keep it in a garage). So here I just do the same (especially given I heard there is also still theft of bikes close to French border): leave it inside, in this case even next to the apt door 1st floot. Today I saw all my acessories had been nicked… in just close to a week… even stranger one of them was just the bike-side piece for a phone mount which kind of has no use if you don’t have the phone side piece (this wasn’t a quadlock or anything so not so universal). The strangest for me is that it would really come from inside the building… We already met the neighbours and all were really friendly. submitted by /u/Affectionate-Ad-1062
