My partner and I have been together for 8 years. Lately we keep arguing about something really small: I often forget to put the toilet seat down. I’m barely home, I run my own business, my head is constantly full of emails, quotes, and work stress. It’s not that I refuse to do it, I just genuinely forget. I’ve explained this, but it feels like she sees it as a lack of care or respect. Now it’s at the point where this comes up almost every evening and turns into a serious argument, even talk about whether we’re still compatible. For people who’ve been together a long time: How do you deal with small, repetitive habits becoming symbols of bigger issues? Is it about the habit itself, or usually something deeper? submitted by /u/NoPatient8433
