Hi guysb Google Speech sucks in general. Don’t get me wrong: I love Google Keyboard and it’s always been my main keyboard (still does). I think it’s been nearly the same typing/speech tech for the last, let’s say, 5-7 years, improving, but step-by-step. The thing is that I thought Google had a decentenough live speech-to-text experience, till I’ve used Perplexity. It waits with the micro switched on till you wanna stop it. You can write. Delete. It detects pauses (therefore, dots, commas… Everything). Even multilingual in the same phrase. And the moooost important: all at the same time. Perhaps GBoard Speech recognition in my gf’s Pixel works somehow a bit better, but in my X200 Pro, even it works kinda fine, microphone stops when you stop speaking, often you say a whole phrase, and it just writes 1 or 2 words and you notice after 10s speaking that microphone switched off. It’s a whole “I would rather write even it’s 500 words…” moment. But Perplexity’s capabilities… bruh. If you didn’t try, do it. My brother works for a big IA speech-to-text company and it agrees that it’s quite insane. They are not releasing their own tech yet tho, cuz he told me 🤣 he would like to see how their ““source”” is. Question: does somebody know if there’s a Perplexity’s plan to bring that tech down to Android/iOS speech-keyboard? It would be a life changing for me. And no: I don’t wanna copy-paste the whole time from Perplexity’s app to Telegram, WhatsApp, Gmail or wherever submitted by /u/urii13
