So in terms of Ai safety people say it must be aligned with human values. If humans want to build a highway and there is an ant hill in the way what happens? The ant hill gets removed. Why? It is not that humans necessarily hate ants or are evil, just that humans have decided that their goals are more important than the ant hill and as more intelligent beings their needs come first. The majority of us also eat meat that has been farmed. Why? Again no real hatred of animals. Humans have just decided that as superior beings we are allowed to eat them. So human values say the goals and desires of superior beings trump those of inferior beings. So if we make super intelligence “human values” say it’s ok to eliminate us if we are in the way ai’s goals. It’s ok to farm and eat us in order to sustain itself. submitted by /u/Specific-Economist43
