My landlord resent a letter releasing me early from my contract without the need to find a replacement tenant and said over the phone that “to be transparent we’ll likely renovate because it’s been 8 years.” But the letter did not mention this and asks me to fully vacate and clean the apartment. She also mentioned over the phone they would schedule some viewings. She never contacted me about any viewings and my lease ends today. I am worried that they will try to charge me for as much as they can even though they secretly plan to renovate. This is my first experience with a landlord so I am not sure what to expect.
