Yeah, that was dramatic. This is what I mean. You guys have all seen the YouTube video showcasing the Unitree B2W ? I saw that, and I was like “oh, we are at that point.” What I mean by that is that thing is $100,000. Almost every baby boomer who saved wisely for their retirement could afford 10 or 15 of those if they wanted. If there were some motivated. And I’m thinking, 5 or 10 years from now, all of this is going to be reality unless there is major legislation to the contrary: - those robots will be tougher, faster and cheaper. - The AI problem of how to get a robot to shoot somebody through the heart from a thousand ft under any wind and weather conditions will be solved. It probably already has. - open source AI tools for robotics will be advanced enough to enable a robot to execute lethal campaigns with superhuman speed and dexterity - the dark web doesn’t seem to be going anywhere, So the software for doing these things will be obtainable for a price - Hi Jennifer, than almost anyone’s going to be able to afford doing this The reason this comes to mind, is cuz I was thinking about the tech CEOs the other day. They’re so bullish on all this. And they think they’re at the top. I’m not sure they realize. Todd, these things are going to be so ridiculously capable that nobody’s going to be safe, including themselves. I don’t know why they would want to make a world that dangerous. I mean someone like Elon musk could probably have a small Army of the most advanced robots in the world as bodyguards, but the question is will they always be so far ahead of what everybody else has that they can protect him 100%? . Seems to me like it’s a no. Everything’s going to be mass-produced. And there’s so much resistance to responsible legislation, I don’t know how this could not end up sneaking up on us. It’ll probably show up first in the schools. Tomorrow’s Columbine and Sandy Hook will have active robot shooters. Not people. And it’ll be ugly. There’ll be 10 times as many dead kids. That’s what bothered me about that unit tree video. Even if that video is doctored, that thing looks fully capable of hunting down and catching up to anybody. And unlike right now, this means that these people who go in and do those terrible things, they can do it without getting killed themselves. It would probably be a lot of fun building something like that. This is all going to be a big mess. I can’t picture us getting our act together in time. submitted by /u/dsfhhslkj
