I get this situation all the time, but it seems happening only to me. When I’m in a group at social gatherings, the group keeps changing topic the whole time (normal) and laugh at every other sentence (annoying but also normal) and I wait very long until they switch to an interesting topic and when that finally happens and I find the perfect chance to speak the group gets silent for five seconds and then slowly restarts with something unrelated. It is so disheartening. After that I lose my interest in the group and start being on my phone for the rest of the gathering. What do I do wrong?
