In the rush to automate labor we’re going to quickly discover as the 8 billion people on this planet use AI and automation to start manufacturing themselves a western way of life that we are running out of copper, silver, and other industrial metals. Removing one bottleneck just surfaces the other one. Without massive breakthroughs in material science, we will be left with 90% of the people on the planet redundant and no resources to provide for them.
