*When this happened, I spent 20 minutes agonizing over whether to break my no sim rule, on the grounds that getting a 1 KC pet might be even more of an achievement than getting a no-sim quiver. Based on enthusiastic support from friends, I caved and tried out the sim for the first time, fresh as a daisy at nearly 3 am. I couldn’t figure out how to enable the audio in the sim, so the fight was mute, and I rely heavily on audio cues in PVM generally speaking. I also couldn’t figure out how to rebind the F-keys, and settled for trying to do the fight in the sim without leaving the prayer screen (I’d never even encountered the grapple at this point). I’m sure I could’ve figured all this out, but my heart wasn’t actually in it. Safe to say, simming didn’t go well, and I only spent a grand total of 9 minutes there (based on the above chat log), which was probably less because I kept tabbing back to the main game. I don’t think I reduced Sol’s HP below 1000 in the sim. And once I realized I’d lost my chance at the pet, I closed the sim and never opened it again.

What did help enormously with making this possible was recording every single Sol fight , and practicing in-game alongside the recordings with the movements and prayers. My first Sol encounter was at 0-195, and I got the quiver after 344 deaths, so I averaged approximately 1 Sol per 6.5 deaths after that point. I can’t believe it’s actually done! Eagerly awaiting my return for blessed quiver and Ralos (and pet), but it’s gonna be a little while before it’s time for that. Next up, a chill skilling grind to 2350 total, and a little supply rebuild (3 super combats left in the bank). Safe to say Colo is my favorite content in the game! Go try it if you haven’t :) submitted by /u/NoCurrencies
