We all know we are able to adapt to many situations which is why we can live on all aspects of the globe. The brain prunes off unused connections and strengthens connections that we tend to use more (LTP). It seems that the more dependent we become on tech the less capable we become overall. Generally, in recent times, we have become quite dependent on Google/chatGPT etc. to solve any problems we may have, rather then having to really break down and systematically figure out and solve those issues ourselves . When AI comes about and takes over most of the daily tasks that are left for us to do is it even possible to predict the type of mental atrophy it could cause? I would like to believe that most people, with the surplus of time, would have the opportunity to hone their creativity but creativity usually comes from an increased fluid intelligence that stems from a type of problem solving, being able to draw connections, and seeing what others may have trouble in seeing, which makes this seem counter intuitive to some degree with AI taking over the problem solving process. I am generally trying to keep optimistic about AI but once our thoughts are potentially mapped algorithmically, which with our data already being trafficked and advertising being tweaked to us personally this is already being attempted with our current level of relatively rudimentary technology, is there going to be one true philosophical mode of living synergistically with AI considering we will be intellectually inferior to it in all aspects? Incidentally, how does this not in turn cause us to conform to it rather then it to us, and if so, how can we maintain our abilities and freedoms? submitted by /u/YZeus
