When I was a kid, my grandmother would sit on the edge of my bed every night and tell me a fable. Not from a book — she knew them by heart . The Fox and the Grapes. The Tortoise and the Hare. The North Wind and the Sun. Aesop and Phaedrus, with her own little twists. I didn’t appreciate it then. But those stories shaped how I think about the world . Shortcuts don’t pay off. Kindness beats force. Bragging is a fast way to lose what you have. When you hear that at 5 years old through a story about a tortoise who just kept going — it sticks forever. Now I have kids, and I wanted them to have that same thing. But I’m not my grandmother . I don’t have 200 fables memorized, and reading from a book isn’t the same as a story that feels personal — with your kid’s name in it, tailored to what they’re going through. So I built Fabula — an MCP server built specifically for Claude, using Claude Code for most of the development. You say “create a bedtime story about courage for my 6-year-old Sofia” and Claude writes a full original story in the Aesop tradition, with a moral and discussion questions for parents. It shows up in a storybook right inside the chat . Every story is unique — different emotional arcs, narrative structures, creative twists — but they all follow the same timeless patterns that made these fables survive 2,600 years. The whole thing runs on Claude’s intelligence. My server just provides the storytelling framework and the moral values catalog. No AI costs on my end, zero frontend to maintain — Claude is the interface . It’s the leanest thing I’ve ever built. It’s free to try (5 stories/month, premium if you want unlimited). Right now I’m in the waiting phase. The server works, it’s deployed, you can install it manually today. But I’ve applied to Anthropic to be listed as an official connector , and if you’ve been through that process you know it’s a bit of a black box. So I wait. Which, now that I think about it, is kind of the point. My grandmother’s stories taught me that the tortoise wins not because he’s fast, but because he doesn’t stop . Building something from a personal conviction and then waiting patiently for it to find its place — that’s the fable I’m living right now. If you’re a parent who uses Claude, I’d love for you to try it. And if you’re building MCP servers, happy to swap notes. Website: fabula.click submitted by /u/ferdbons
